The Arundel Collection: The Final Flourish

Fletta raffia braided cord by The Vale London in oxblood, natural and forest green

The Final Flourish

The Arundel Collection began with a journey to the Maasai Mara, where Melinda visited The Maa Trust and met the women behind Maa Beadwork. There, beadwork is more than adornment. It is craft, livelihood, independence and community, supporting women as they invest in clean water, solar power, education and the futures of their families.

That experience sits at the heart of Arundel. The collection celebrates the quiet power of handwork: the rhythm of a braid, the precision of a bead, the joy of colour, and the way a small detail can carry meaning far beyond decoration.

Each cord adds polish and personality, turning every edge into a signature design moment. Fletta carries an easy natural charm, a raffia braid with a relaxed, handmade sensibility. Linea is crafted from natural wool in playful stripes that feel both tailored and familiar. Ludus brings structure and rhythm through hand-beaded checkerboard geometry. Ferox is the boldest expression, combining colour, pattern and precision in a dramatic beaded statement.

Together, they form a collection that is tactile, modern and unmistakably The Vale: refined trims with a human hand, a sense of play and a deeper respect for the craft traditions that continue to shape and sustain communities.

Fletta, Raffia Braided Cord

Fletta celebrates the simple, instinctive beauty of the braid. Crafted from 100 percent natural raffia, it recalls the familiar act of working with one’s hands: braiding hair, tying threads, making something small and meaningful with care. Its relaxed texture brings warmth and ease to refined interiors, while its natural fibre gives it an honest, tactile quality. In the collection, Fletta is the gentlest note, the cord that softens a crisp linen or settles a patterned velvet, in a palette of seven colours.

Linea, Ribbed Wool Cord

Linea finds beauty in simplicity. Woven from 100 percent natural fibres, its soft ribbed texture recalls the quiet pleasure of making, wrapping and knotting threads by hand. Its stripe gives an edge the neatness of good tailoring, and the wool keeps it warm to the eye rather than sharp. Available in eight colours, Linea is versatile, quietly playful and grounded in the collection’s wider celebration of craft.

Ludus, Beaded Cord

Ludus takes its name from the Latin word for play. Every bead is placed by hand, and together they give an edge real rhythm and a surface you want to touch. The checkerboard pattern has the logic of a game board, while the beadwork carries the patience of the women who inspired the collection. Across its six colourways, Ludus shows how graphic a single line of trim can be.

Ferox, Beaded Cord

Ferox is the statement piece of the collection, a study in colour, precision and poise. Its bands of pattern are built bead by bead, and the result reads as confidently graphic as a piece of couture. It carries the joy of ornament, but with control and polish. Ferox comes in two colourways, each gathering a whole spectrum of colour into one cord, and it gives any interior a jolt of energy and attitude.
