Press release, September 2026

The British design house marks a new chapter with a permanent showroom, a special FOCUS installation and the launch of its new Arundel Trimmings Collection.

This September, The Vale London will open the doors to its new permanent showroom at Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour, marking an important new chapter for the British textile, wallcovering and trimmings house.

Founded in London in 2019, The Vale has grown from an independent textile studio into an internationally distributed interiors brand, while retaining the hand-drawn artwork, craftsmanship and individual point of view at the heart of every collection.

“For me, opening our own showroom at Chelsea Harbour feels incredibly significant,” says Melinda Marquardt, Owner, CEO and Creative Director of The Vale London. “The Vale was born in London, and although the brand has grown enormously internationally, this feels like coming home in a much bigger way. I wanted to create a space where designers can really step into our world, see the collections together, layer pattern and texture, and experience The Vale beyond an individual fabric or wallcovering.”

The new showroom will present The Vale London’s growing collection of textiles, wallcoverings and decorative trimmings within one permanent home, offering designers a more immersive way to discover the brand and work with the collection. It will also be the exclusive London destination for The Vale’s collection of finished home pieces, including throw blankets, throw pillows and dog beds, giving visitors the opportunity to experience the brand beyond its trade collections.

To celebrate the opening during FOCUS/26, The Vale will also create a special installation on Design Avenue, on the ground floor of Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour. The installation will introduce the brand’s new Arundel Trimmings Collection, giving visitors a first look at the collection before inviting them upstairs to discover the wider Vale world.

“FOCUS felt like the perfect moment to do something beyond simply opening the doors upstairs,” says Marquardt. “We wanted the installation downstairs to feel celebratory, decorative and full of personality, while giving Arundel its own moment. Then upstairs, people can experience the collection as part of the complete Vale story.”

The Arundel Trimmings Collection explores the decorative possibilities of cords and tapes through The Vale’s distinctly modern approach to traditional decoration. Inspired by the richness of British interiors and the enduring craft of passementerie, the collection is designed to bring character, structure and detail to upholstery, drapery, cushions and furniture.

The showroom and FOCUS installation also reflect The Vale London’s love of working alongside other British design houses and makers. Furniture from Ben Whistler and lighting from Heathfield & Co will sit alongside The Vale’s own collections, creating an environment that celebrates British design, craftsmanship and the creative exchange between complementary brands.

“I love working with other British brands because it makes the space feel more like a real interior and less like a traditional showroom,” says Marquardt. “Our fabrics and wallcoverings are designed to live alongside beautiful furniture, lighting, art and objects, so bringing those elements together feels very natural to me.”

To mark the opening, The Vale London will host A Sweet New Chapter, an opening celebration on Monday, 14 September at 3:00 PM during FOCUS. The invitation-only event will welcome designers, press and friends of the brand to experience the new showroom, discover the Arundel collection and celebrate The Vale’s next chapter in London.

“The party is really about celebrating everyone who has been part of The Vale’s journey so far,” says Marquardt. “Opening at Chelsea Harbour feels like such a milestone for us, and I wanted the first day to feel less like a formal showroom opening and more like welcoming people into our home.”

The showroom opening represents the next stage of The Vale London’s continued expansion while reinforcing the company’s roots within the British design community.

“What matters to me is that, even as The Vale grows, it still feels personal, creative and a little unexpected,” Marquardt adds. “The new showroom gives us the opportunity to show people not only what we make, but how we see interiors: layered, artistic, beautifully crafted and never too serious.”

The Vale London’s new showroom is now open at Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour, with its special Arundel installation on Design Avenue throughout FOCUS. Plan a visit or explore the Arundel Collection.
